October 3-4: Surfing for Hope
This event is designed to help inspire people challenged by cancer through the positive energy of surfing. Surfing is the ideal format to help people in this situation by showing how positive and healthful our sport is and it gives the surfing community the opportunity to give back to people in need by sharing what we love. October 5: Art in the Park @ Dinosaur Caves
Art in the Park @ Dinosaur Caves in Shell Beach is a once-a-month event taking place on the first Sunday of every month from 10am-4pm, May through November. Over 100 local artists and craftsmen sell and display their work, including paintings, sculpture, pottery, glass, textiles, jewelry, wood and metal furniture, and more. The event also features live music, hands-on children's activities, fresh flowers and plants, a BBQ, and on-site massage. October 12: 19th Annual City to the Sea Half Marathon, 5K & Kids' Fun Run
This point-to-point half marathon begins in downtown San Luis Obispo and ends in beautiful Pismo Beach. As a major fundraiser for Cuesta College's award-winning cross country and track and field programs, everyone is encouraged to participate in this family-friendly event. If 13.1 miles is not your preferred distance, you'll love our much shorter 5K race (3.1 miles), which takes place in beautiful Pismo Beach. October 17-19: 68th Annual Pismo Beach Clam Festival
A community tradition since 1946, the Pismo Beach Clam Festival features a live parade, best local chowder contest, surf contest, food, Beer & Wine Garden and Pier Pub, music and the Friday night wine walk. As part of the 68th Annual Pismo Beach Clam Festival, The City of Pismo Beach is bringing back the legendary Pismo Dory race from the 29th annual Clam Festival in 1975. Competitors from around the state will paddle through the cold and unpredictable Pismo surf, racing dory boats in and out of the waves to claim the victory. Flyer

October 23-26: 37th Annual Jubilee by the Sea Jazz Festival - Flyer - Band Schedule - Shuttle Map
This premier west coast jazz event features many of the most sought-after traditional jazz bands from across the nation, including 20 bands and several guest artists performing at five venues, all connected by a shuttle bus system. New Orleans-style jazz, big band performances, dancing, food and beverages are available. New to the festival this year are two Thursday night kick-off events including Oktoberfest featuring the Mud Skippers and WE 3 with special guest Larry Scala, followed by the highly anticipated Swing Dance Saturday Night event. October 24-26: BUBBLYFEST By The Sea

October 25: Pumpkins on the Pier - Poster
Join us on the pier from 10 am - 1 pm for this free, family-fun event. Children 12 and under are encouraged to participate in Halloween-themed activities including pumpkin decorating, costume contests, games, crafts, and bounce houses. Get there early to receive one of the 600 pumpkins to give away, first come-first serve. The costume contest will start at 11:30 am and includes prizes for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place in four age divisions. An Adult Costume Contest will follow with an award given to the top two adults for best overall costume. The 10th Annual Trick or Treat Extravaganza will be held from 12 pm - 2 pm at participating downtown business locations.
