September 2016 through May 2017: Cow Parade SLO
Over 75 cities and 200 million people worldwide have participated in CowParade, one of the most successful art endeavors ever. Now it’s San Luis Obispo County’s turn. CowParade SLO County will give local artists a chance to showcase their talents on a global stage. The region’s agricultural history, growing arts scene and its ecotourism draw make CowParade the perfect conduit for a countywide event that will involve, unite and benefit the whole community. October 1: Surfing for Hope Annual Longboard Contest
The Surfing for Hope Annual Longboard Contest Weekend will take place on October 1st, 2016, in Pismo Beach, California. This event is designed to help inspire people challenged by cancer through the positive energy of surfing. Surfing is the ideal format to help people in this situation by showing how positive and healthful our sport is and it gives the surfing community the opportunity to give back to people in need by sharing what we love. October 2: Art in the Park @ Dinosaur Caves
Art in the Park @ Dinosaur Caves in Shell Beach is a once-a-month event taking place on the first Sunday of every month from 10am-4pm, June through November. Over 100 local artists and craftsmen sell and display their work, including paintings, sculpture, pottery, glass, textiles, jewelry, wood and metal furniture, and more. October 6-8: BUBBLYFEST By The Sea

October 8-9: SLOPOKE Western Art Rodeo
The SLOPOKE Western Art Rodeo is a museum-quality fine art show. This is a different type of show than the usual commercial art show or the fund raiser for another organization. October 9: 20th Annual City to the Sea Half Marathon, 5K & Kids' Fun Run
This point-to-point half marathon begins in downtown San Luis Obispo and ends in beautiful Pismo Beach. As a major fundraiser for Cuesta College's award-winning cross country and track and field programs, everyone is encouraged to participate in this family-friendly event. If 13.1 miles is not your preferred distance, you'll love our much shorter 5K race (3.1 miles), which takes place in beautiful Pismo Beach. October 21-23: 70th Annual Pismo Beach Clam Festival
A community tradition since 1946, the Pismo Beach Clam Festival features a live parade, best local chowder contest, surf contest, food, Beer & Wine Garden and Pier Pub, music and the Friday night wine walk. October 27-30: 40th Annual Pismo Beach Jazz Jubilee
This premier west coast jazz event features many of the most sought-after traditional jazz bands from across the nation, including 25 bands and several guest artists performing at five venues, all connected by a shuttle bus system. New Orleans-style jazz, big band performances, dancing, food and beverages are available. New to the festival this year are two Thursday night kick-off events including Mardi Gras in October with High Street Band from Idaho and WE 3 +1 with special guest Larry Scala.  The highly anticipated Saturday Night Dance sets will encourage costumes and dancers of all ages. October 29: Pumpkins on the Pier - Poster
Join us on the pier from 10 am - 1 pm for this free, family-fun event. Children 12 and under are encouraged to participate in Halloween-themed activities including pumpkin decorating, costume contests, games, crafts, and bounce houses. Get there early, the first 500 children under 12 will receive a pumpkin to decorate! The costume contest will start at 11:30 am and includes prizes for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place in four age divisions. An Adult Costume Contest will follow with an award given to the top two adults for best overall costume. The 10th Annual Trick or Treat Extravaganza will be held from 12 pm - 2 pm at participating downtown business locations.
