September 2016 through May 2017: Cow Parade SLO
Over 75 cities and 200 million people worldwide have participated in CowParade, one of the most successful art endeavors ever. Now it’s San Luis Obispo County’s turn. CowParade SLO County will give local artists a chance to showcase their talents on a global stage. The region’s agricultural history, growing arts scene and its ecotourism draw make CowParade the perfect conduit for a countywide event that will involve, unite and benefit the whole community. February 4: Father-Daughter Dance
This event is for young ladies ages 3-18 and the man in their lives (Dad). We are proud to host a semi-formal evening of dancing and fun. Pre-registration is required to this enjoyable evening from 6 pm - 8:30 pm. Snacks, beverages, flowers for dad's "date" and a keepsake photo will be provided. Tickets are $30 per couple - each additional child in the same family is $10. (An adult male must accompany each young lady.) This event will be held at the Pismo Beach Veterans Hall. February 4: California Western Monarch Day
Plans are in place for a joyful celebration for Western Monarch Day at the Pismo State Beach Monarch Butterfly Grove. There will be butterfly talks and educational booths for adults, as well as art activities for children. The main attraction, however, is the thousands of Monarchs hanging in huge clusters from the eucalyptus and pine trees in the grove. The grove will remain open through the month of February from 10 am - 4 pm with docents providing daily talks at 11 am and 2 pm. Daily: Monarch Butterfly Grove Talks
Thousands of beautiful orange and black Monarch Butterflies can be seen clustering in the Eucalyptus and Cypress trees at the Pismo State Beach Monarch Butterfly Grove every winter. From November-February the grove is staffed daily by our knowledgeable docents from 10 am - 4 pm, with talks given at 11 am and 2 pm. Located on Highway 1 just south of the Pismo State Beach North Beach Campground the grove offers FREE admission and FREE parking. Don't miss this spectacular wonder of nature. Wednesdays: Pismo Beach Farmers Market
